Deluxe Wool Mattress and Topper by Woolroom

I’ve been searching for a natural mattress for years. Buying online can be so stressful and purchasing a mattress I’ve never touched felt daunting. I know most companies have trial periods and free returns, but it still felt stressful deciding. Woolroom has a spring sale when the mattresses are 30% off and I was determined to make a decision and a purchase. We’d been sleeping on a mattress we got years before that was a synthetic mattress and I’d been increasingly conscious of it each time I laid down on it.

I watched a video made in England about how wool is anti inflammatory. Those I the video suggested buying more natural fibers for home decor including mattresses, couches, bedding and curtains because in the case of a fire, wool ignites so much more slowly than polyester. Since we just moved into a log cabin, I decided I wanted to do everything I could to be safe for our bodies and our environment so I started searching for mattresses with wool.

I ordered the medium deluxe mattress, the organic mattress cover and the wool topper because I prefer a soft mattress and this was the coziest recommendation (in order to take advantage of the 60 day sleep trial period, you need to purchase one of the higher quality mattress covers). I didn’t pay for the old mattress removal service because I wanted to make sure we loved the mattress. I did pay for the extra help to install it, but because of scheduling problems, we weren’t able to take advantage of that service. A quick email to Woolroom and they refunded to fee. After the first night’s sleep, even though I thought the mattress was too firm, I woke up without an ache in my body. This sounds like an exaggeration, but it’s not. I was stunned. Some shoulder pain I had been experiencing was even gone. After a few nights, I still thought it was too firm. We turned the bed each week as instructed so the settling of the wool would be uniform and after almost two months of trying, I decided to send back the mattress. I moved it off of our frame and replaced it with our original synthetic mattress. That night was one of the worst sleeps I’ve ever had. It felt like I was sleeping on plastic and I couldn’t get comfortable. It was too soft! The next morning, I nearly threw that mattress across the room and replaced it with the Woolroom mattress, and now, it’s the coziest mattress I’ve ever slept on.
