Sojourn in Sawyer, Michigan

We were driving along the Red Arrow Highway off of Lake Michigan, trying to get a sense of the atmosphere. We were contemplating buying a cabin 20 miles away and were nervous to be in a place so different from what we knew. As we drove, we saw a really neat building, kind of in the middle of no where. It was Sojourn. We stopped in and I was amazed-natural fibers, ethical practices and so much creativity and personality in each corner of Sojourn. You can find fancy, soft, delicate, and spicy along with books, candles, pottery, blankets, jewelry, bags, plants, and cooking utensils. I have great taste, and this shop holds more delight than I could ever have expected. Needless to say, we bought the cabin.

I don’t typically post favorites of things you have to see in person but Sojourn is one of those places you just have to visit. It’s that special. They don’t have an online shop, but I’m telling you, if you can make it to south west Michigan, it’s worth a stop. They’re open Saturday and Sunday noon-5pm (don’t forget that there’s an hour time change from Indiana to Michigan if coming from Chicago).
