Hot Shoulder Hemp Swimwear by Natasha Tonić
Hold the phone. Do you know how hard it is to find natural fiber swimwear out there?! It’s really hard. I was so excited to find Natasha Tonić and even more excited when I got my bathing suit and it fit! And it was comfortable! And it was cool! And, after wearing it all season to swim in lakes, rivers, and pools, it still maintains its shape. It’s made of hemp, organic cotton, and 4% lycra. It’s sewn and dyed in Los Angeles, CA. It’s also woman owned. The brown and black suit on the home page tile is the one I bought. It’s now sold out because it was created a few seasons ago. This golden beauty is the one I plan on getting next and as of this post, there were XS, S & M still available.
Hemp is such a cool fiber. It got a bad rap in the 70’s (I’ll let you do your own research as to why) and now it’s resurfacing. It’s natural, antimicrobial and strong. Natasha Tonić has a page dedicated to its awesomeness here. These are fantastic pieces and I’m really hoping super success for Natasha Tonić so we all have options for natural over synthetic in the future. I really love how Natasha Tonić shares their process with us in the Transparency tab, everything from where the material is sourced to the factory that makes the suits.
One thing to note-they are small batch driven so availability for styles and colors can change quickly. Sometimes shopping natural, sustainable and local is a lesson in patience. Chin up and check back in if your chosen size, color or style isn’t currently available.
